iPod Touch Widow

About 2 months ago Paul went out of town on business to New York State for a Kodak convention. Every time he goes to one of these things he comes home proud as a peacock with a piece of technology he has won in a raffle of some sort. Last year he didn't go (Natalie was about to be born). The year before that he won a Kodak digital camera. Anyway, this year he came home with an iPod Shuffle. Now, my husband loves to win stuff, but he didn't really want a shuffle. He wanted the Cadillac of iPods; the iPod Touch. Of course, he couldn't just let the winning of the shuffle go to waste.

Paul: Honey, can't I trade this in for a touch?
Erin: Uh, isn't that a lot more money?
Paul: Yes, but I've got this shuffle that I can return and then it won't be so expensive.
Erin: How much money will it cost after returning the shuffle?
Paul: $230
Erin: No.

We went on like this for two months. He begged, he reasoned, he threw grown man fits. Finally, the price of the iPod Touch went down significantly. The last part of the negotiation was that I too was able to get the cheaper Nano. He was more than eager to drive like a maniac to the store. We called it our Anniversary/Christmas present.

Now that Paul has the thing, he spends what little spare time he has these days on it. "It's amazing how many cool things I can do now," is the only sentence I hear out of his mouth. I even caught him feigning to be asleep this morning so that he could play with his iPod Touch under the covers without me knowing. At least the iPod can keep him warm at night because it is so overheated with use.
