1. I'm tired of receiving e-mails form the Republican Party in Utah saying the bailout isn't going to help Utah because the rebuilding schools money was mostly taken out. Why? Oh wait, the Republican whined that it wouldn't stimulate the economy, so they took most of it out.
2. I'm tired of the Republicans going on and on about how much this whole things is going to cost us in the long run. I seem to remember that we were in a surplus until the Iraq War and the last bailout that was mismanaged under Bush.
3. I'm tired of hearing that giving money to the states to help their shortfall is not a good way to stimulate the economy. People are getting laid off in our government agencies, programs that help the already downtrodden are being cut, and education is going further in the crapper. But will Utah gladly take that money to offset their budget? Yeppers! Gladly! I think we should give it back and we can just pay lower taxes and take care of things ourselves. I don't mind having 40 kids in a class. We can just show videos all day while I do crowd control.
4. I'm tired of hearing that Obama didn't really try to get input from the Republicans. I can't remember another time since I have been an adult where a President has tried to make everyone happy. But alas, we are not happy.
5. Obama is being very transparent and trying to learn from the mistakes of his previous counterpart. Check out his website to see where every bailout dollar is going at www.recovery.gov
I know for a fact that many of us, including myself are in a precarious situation. At any time we could lose it all (except our families). We could lose our jobs, house, and our way of life. Most of us have people we can turn to to help us out, but what would happen if you had no one better off then you?Unfortunately, there are many Americans who find themselves in that situation. Their only help is the government. This bailout won't solve all of their problems, but it might just give some a lifeline until the storm subsides.
I am not happy that we have to go further into debt, but I also know that we are an amazing group of Americans that have weathered storms in the past and have pulled ourselves out of horrible situations. I think if we band together now, we can help one another get past this hard time as well.
I'll step off my soap box now.
