30 minutes of fame

Well, today I turned the big 3-0.  I am no longer a 20 something.  I don't really feel different.  I never had a nice body, so I can't pine for that.  I never had a wild and crazy youth, so I can't pine for that.  I have always been surrounded by children (life of a teacher) so I can't pine for childlessness.  Is that a word?

The day started out lame.  I was so tired before I even got out of bed.  I had an early meeting at school for Community Council.  I got ready and was about to walk out the door when I couldn't find my keys.  I started to panic.  I later found them in a gift bag I had thrown all my junk in from my car the day before.  I hurriedly called Paul to come back and get Natalie and I.

There was a huge traffic jam on the freeway, so both Paul and I were about 30 minutes late.  I walked into the meeting and stuck my foot in my mouth with the principal.  I basically told her that our test scores were in the toilet because we had "sucked the life" out of school.  There is nothing fun or entertaining about school anymore unless you get your jollies from testing.  The students never get to do anything meaningful anymore.  I was appointed as a parent, not as a teacher.  I just happen to be both a parent and a teacher, so I spoke my  mind.

The day continued to tank when my students continually misbehaved.  The birthday party was started early and I wasn't invited.  Is it summer break yet?

The day got better from then on.  We took Natalie to the doctor and she was given a good bill of health.  It's hard to see your baby sick :(

Finally, Paul threw me a little dinner party at the Citrus Grill.  It was so much fun to see people I rarely get to see or hang out with.  The food was great and the present givers were generous. Some were a little too generous with risque gifts (Bethany, Corianne, and Rusty).  I won't elaborate.  I'll let your mind wander.
