I have unfortunately acquired the flu again. Yesterday, I experienced something that few women get to experience when they are wives and mothers. I begged Paul to stay home with me and take care of Natalie so I could take care of myself. He wasn't too happy about it at first, but he warmed up to the idea when he was able to still get some necessary work done while nursing me back to health.
The thought occurred to me that I was able to be sick like a man. Let me explain: When a man gets sick, the whole world shuts down for them. They get to lie around in bed nursing themselves back to health without any other responsibilities. No children to take care of. No meals to cook. Women, on the other hand, still get to take on their role of wife and mother when they are sick. Yesterday, Paul made it possible to take care of myself and for that I am grateful. I feel a lot better today. I still have the remnants of a fever and some achiness, but I am on the mend.
Of course, now I have to put the house back together. Some things never change:)
